Established in 1870, the Smith Academy is an educational institution that offers a range of academic and extracurricular programs for students in grades 8 through 12. It conducts classes in English, social studies, mathematics and computer technology. The school also provides instruction in science, art, music, Spanish, French, and health and physical education. It offers membership opportunities for the National Honor Society and student council. The Smith Academy provides credit-based summer school courses for academic enrichment of its students, as well as maintains drama, yearbook, community service, singing, cooking, band, fitness and computer hardware repair clubs. Additionally it conducts several sports events, including football, basketball, volleyball and baseball tournaments. Located in Hatfield, Mass., the Smith Academy is a part of the Hatfield Public Schools District, which governs an elementary, middle and high school.
