Established in 1968, Southern High School serves more than 1,200 students in grades 9 through 12. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, science, social studies, family and consumer science, English and technology education. The school supports a variety of extracurricular programs in art, music and physical education. It also offers foreign language programs in French and Spanish. In addition, Southern High School offers a variety of sports activities, such as hockey, football, golf, soccer, basketball, wrestling, tennis, softball, cross country, and track and field. It provides guidance and counseling services to students. Located in Harwood, Md., Southern High School is a part of Anne Arundel County Public Schools, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
