Harlingen Fire Department with a fire force of more than 100 members is responsible for fire and rescue services in the city of Harlingen, Combes, Palm Valley, Primera and Cameron, Texas. The department maintains more than seven fire stations on a ready status, 24 hours a day. It offers services that include fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services to the citizens. Harlingen Fire Department operates through various divisions, such as operations, fire prevention, training division, fire administration and office emergency management. The operation division responds to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, rescue, and aircraft and rescue firefighting. Its office of emergency management offers a full line of services, including maintaining the emergency management plan; managing the emergency operation center; conducting annual disaster exercises; coordinating the planning and preparedness activities of city government; and preparing and maintaining a resource inventory.
