He completed an internship at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

He completed a Clinical Nutrition Fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center, and then his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pennsylvania. While in private practice in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Dr. Thomas was involved in several clinical research trials for erosive esophagitis, ulcerative colitis, and diarrhea associated IBS. He is the Owner and President of Hillside Gastroenterology & Nutrition, Inc. and Hillside Endoscopy Center, LLC.
