never ever give your pets to this shelter. they kill your pets for no reason and then come up with thousand excuses for it. i surrendered my cat to them thinking they will take good care of her after they assured me to do so. however, i changed my mind the next day and went there only to find out that they killed my dear cat. they call themselves "anti-cruelty" society while they commit the most heinous cruelty against innocent, harmless animals. pathetic!!! they should be sued.

This is a major kill shelter. There was an article in the Detroit free press about percentages of dogs killed at various shelters. It stated that Michigan anti-cruelty society kills 99% of the dogs that are brought in. Please adopt from this shelter, and hopefully the numbers will start getting lower. There aren't enough homes for these dogs, and people don't realize exactly how many dogs are actually being put down. Please do your research.
We adopted TWO dogs from MACS. Our first, Orlando was found weighing less than 4 pounds, emaciated, and so badly matted he had to be shaved bald, and fighting for his life! MACS nursed him for eight weeks, and let us adopt him, and bring him back to Canada with us at 8 lbs. Orlando is now 15lbs, and a happy healthy dog thanks to the dedicated, kind people at MACS, who believed this little guy near death had a lot of life left in him. Our second, Savannah was unadoptable, tied to a tree since a pup who survived eating grubs and grass. She was adopted, and returned, adopted, returned. MACS did not euthanize her, they knew someone would have the patience, Savannah came home with us to be a friend for Orlando, and was able to be domesticated with patience and time, and now is a dog so full of love, and so grateful. I just roll my eyes at the person who posted this was a kill-kennel, it certainly is NOT! (only a coward would post such an ugly, untrue review as an "anonymous guest"!)

Highly recommend for for all services! They helped my family when our dog was ready to go due to cancer. They then helped us find the perfect match fwhen we were ready! Wonderful, helpful and very commpassionate people!

This is a killling shelter with a bad reputation and SADISTIC people working in it. They have low adoption rates, their emphasis is on killling of dogs and cats. They will not work with rescue groups, nor do they return phone calls to prospective adopters. They should be shut down. Regretfully, had to rate it with one star, due to default. Their real score is "SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN."
