Although offering a free call for a land-line, it connects one to an automated answering service which results in never hearing a human voice. A local directory will give you a number where people will pick up a phone and answer you; however, if we had a 'local' directory for the entire U.S., there wouldn't be much of a need for Switchboard anyway.If you want to help people connect to a Post Office outside your calling area, give people the number of a local church. Most pastors and their secretaries are kind enough to open their phone books and give you the correct number.I'm giving it 1 Star because I'm not allowed the option of zero stars.
