I had the following experience with Benz Associates in the past 9 months:

I wanted to purchase flood insurance. The agent recommended I look at “content” insurance to save on my premium. I went with content, and I made it clear that I wanted to cover everything in my basement. The contract I signed included a section that listed $10,000-$20,000 worth of equipment in the basement. I assumed this included the furnace, water tank, electric panel, etc. The agent from Benz failed to explain that it did not.

When I had a flood, the insurance company refused to pay for damage to that equipment. Furthermore, the company incorrectly guided me in my actions following the flood for four days, behaving as if I had coverage that I did not. Because Benz Associates failed to explain that the equipment was not covered, I asked Benz to reimburse me for my losses. They refused.


As a result, I’ve experienced about $5,000 in expenses, and $2,500 in lost earnings. Repairs were made instead of replacing equipment that was installed in 2018, because insurance would not cover costs.

If I could, I'd give zero to Benz Associates.
