Rather bland, cold atmosphere, service fair at best. Food a big disappointment. Salad and bread were top notch, but entrees were bland and for the price, very skimpy and came with a choice of ONE: vegetable, potato or rice, and with most entrees, it wasn't even a choice but a part of the entree! Bottom line: Better meals and atmosphere available at 90% of other U.S. restaurants at half the price

Excellent martinis. Food generally good to great, salad dressing average, Some servers better than others,Bar very noisy sit as faraway as possible Hope it stays and doesn't go out of business Hagerstown needs at least 1 upscale place to eat.

After enjoying an excellent meal here recently, I feel an obligation to rescue Aqua from some of the parched reviews I saw before deciding to risk it anyway. A vegetarian would naturally be disappointed by a restaurant featuring "wild boar". However, if you can tolerate eating sea or land creatures, there are many good choices here. The steak was prepared to exact specifications, the crab cakes were flawless and the vegetables were nicely composed. The sauces are yummy, the presentation pleasing, and the bread was hot! There is a full bar, a wide range of wines (some of them alarmingly expensive), and the restaurant design has an interesting sleek architectural quality. The efficient well-informed waittress was a little chatty for my tastes, but this can work well for diners who need to be rescued from one another. However, optimum customer satisfaction requires that one carefully distinguish these folks from those who would prefer to enjoy one another's company and conversation.

Well what can I say about this place...metropolitan decor, metropolitan pretentiousness...small town quality & service. Server knew nothing about the wine. As I sat at the bar, I had to reluctantly listen to the bartender tell her life story to a patron. I'm pretty sure one of the owners was well on his way to getting drunk at the bar...should I go on? The new york strip and veal chop were way overpriced given their quality. Fine dining and creative it is NOT! I am sticking with better restaurants in Frederick or Shepherdstown. Let's just say that in a major city this restaurant would not fare well against the competition, the quality just isn't there.

I am sure the place can be wonderful, but can only speak from my experience there. First of all, I am an Executive Chef with a very large hospitality company. My wife and I went for our anniversary. Made a special request upon making reservations that my wife is a vegetarian and did not do cream/butter/beef/chicken/fish. Ordered our meals, Salads came...No Bread Entrees Came...Before my Appetizer...Not to mention the $35 steak I ordered Rare was Medium and my wifes pasta dish with "marinara" (uh not very creative there) was actually a pasta dish with a beurre blanc (white wine BUTTER sauce). So we started over...2.5 hours into our visit there the food finally came out as ordered...Mussels and Clams were good. Not Great, but good. Steak was Rare and seasoned simply (very good). Bearnaise was very good. Wifes Pasta dish was average at best. Where is the creativity? Where is the service? Our server was very rough around the edges and lacked short term memory. Wont go back!

Atmosphere was beautiful. Service was quite average. Tuna app was delectable. Hanger steak was a little tough and bun was old. Overall really nice place for food. Over priced for the portions but I guess they need to pay for the space! Wine list could use a little spoofing up but then again YOU CAN NEVER please all the winos on one list.............. Chef is very snobby for being in such an UNsnobby demographic......mabey he will teach us something..or vice versa... ? All in all..........Go!, it is by far one of the best in Washington County.

The food quality and taste were exceptional, very fresh. The presentation and service was also excellent. The house chard and cabernet were actually quite good choices. The only knock is the price - it is a bit higher than I think it should be. Be prepared to drop fifty+ bucks per person.

It's good to see a true 5 star quality restaurant in the area. Great atmosphere and even better food. Considering the quality you get the prices are cheaper than what I expected. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommended!
