Hagerstown Elementary School is an educational institution that offers a range of academic and extracurricular programs. It enrolls students in kindergarten through grade six and provides classes in English, science, mathematics, social studies and language arts. The school maintains a student council and band, handbell choir, Study Buddies and spell bowl clubs. It organizes conventions, music programs, convocation ceremonies, and science, book and media fairs. Hagerstown Elementary School participates in Drug Abuse Resistance Education, which is a federally funded program that focuses on avoiding students involvement in drugs, gangs and violence. It also conducts cross-country, flag football, basketball, volleyball and wrestling matches. The school follows the Measure of Academic Progress test developed by the North West Evaluation Association (NWEA). It is a part of Nettle Creek School Corporation, which governs elementary and high schools.
