Dole Fresh Fruit Company is part of the Dole Food Company with a canning facility in Gulfport, Miss. This branch specializes in the canning and freezing of Dole s fruits. From apples to strawberries, Dole Fresh Fruit Company employs more than 50 packers, processors and shippers. Dole emphasizes food safety, scientific crop protection programs, quality control measures, production and transportation technologies and community involvement, such as nutrition education. Dole is a founding member of the National Five-A-Day for Better Health Program and also develops nutrition education programs for children. Dole was founded in Hawaii in 1851 and markets to every continent in several countries throughout the world.
