- Dental ExaminationAt your complimentary consultation, a comprehensive examination is completed, and, if indicated, diagnostic records are taken. Diagnostic records include digital photos of the face and teeth, digital x-rays, and digital scans of the teeth. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient.

- Dental ImplantsApproximately 5% of the population is missing one or more teeth, of these, the lateral incisor (the teeth on either side of the upper front teeth) are the most common. This can be managed with braces in a number of ways. First, space can be maintained in order to allow a permanent replacement, but nothing permanent should be done until all growth has completed. In the interim, a resin bonded bridge can be used to replace the missing tooth/teeth and maintain the space until the individual is ready for the placement of permanent implants. In some cases, the spaces are closed, rather than maintained, and the cuspids (eye teeth) can be modified to take the place of the laterals.
- Oral Surgery
- Jaw SurgeryAdults may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during, and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable. Jaw surgery can also be more often required for adult orthodontic patients because their jaws are no longer growing. All of these factors are taken into account when planning adult orthodontic treatment.
- Tooth ExtractionsThe first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by that time and crossbites, crowding, and other problems can be evaluated. When treatment is begun early, the orthodontist can guide the growth of the jaws and as well as incoming permanent teeth. Early treatment can also regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches, gain space for permanent teeth, avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, correct thumb-sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems. In other words, early treatment (phase I) can simplify comprehensive treatment performed at a later time.
