Founded in 1979, the Council on Aging for McIntosh Trail is a private nonprofit organization that offers a range of recreational activities and nutrition programs to senior citizens. It provides telephone reassurance, senior employment and information services. The council also offers referral, nutrition education and counseling services to persons with disabilities. It serves people in Butts, Lamar, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties in Georgia. The Council on Aging for McIntosh Trail also offers services to people in Jackson, Barnesville, Zebulon, Griffin and Thomaston, Ga. The council operates under the supervision of Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging. It receives donations from several federal, state and local governments.
