Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, founded in 1834, is a Methodist church. The church offers a wide range of ministries, including adult, children, congregational care, families, leisure, music and arts and youth. Its youth members participate in various mission projects, including sorting clothes for shelter, serving meals to the homeless, group homes missions, adopting a grandparent, box weekend and funds for missions family in the Bahamas. Its child development center provides a comprehensive age-appropriate program for young children. The church provides individual, marriage, family, group, referral counseling, counseling on addiction and recovery issues, mediation in divorce and family matters, and consultation services.
