- General SurgeryI grew up in Texas, and went to college at Texas A&M (graduated with my BS in 1987). I graduated from medical school at Texas Tech University (1992), and moved to North Carolina for residency training. I did two years of general surgery residency (ECU). I then changed to Ob/Gyn and finished residency training in 1997 from ECU School of Medicine, Department Obstetrics/Gynecology. I worked in private practice for two years and then for the ECU School of Medicine for 4 years. While I worked for the school of medicine, I also went to ECU College of Business and graduated with my MBA in 2003. This extra training makes it easier for us to help patients navigate the business of medicine. It also reinforced the need for customer service in health care.
