Stephen Martinkovich, MD Dr. Martinkovich is an expert in anterior total hip replacement, robotic hip and knee replacement, and outpatient joint replacement. His expertise allows him to serve as a referral source for common hip and knee problems, as well as complex and revision joint replacements. A native to the Pittsburgh area, Dr. Martinkovich graduated from North Allegheny High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, before continuing his medical school training at Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he served as class president. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Allegheny General Hospital and a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Virginia Tech Carilion Medical Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Martinkovich and his team are dedicated to improving techniques that allow for quicker recovery and better patient outcomes. As a collegiate baseball player and still workout enthusiast, Dr. Martinkovich understands the importance of providing his patients the ability to return to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Martinkovich has a passion for medical education and research and has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles regarding evolving practices in hip and knee replacement. In his spare time away from the clinic, education, and research he enjoys outdoor recreational activities around the Pittsburgh area, working out, and spending time with his wife and three children. “My team’s goal on a daily basis is to improve our ability to deliver appropriate, complete, and efficient care to our patients. We aim to improve individualized care plans, innovate surgical techniques and streamline surgical processes in order to continuously improve our ability to care for patients, improve their pain and function, and get them back to doing what they enjoy.”
