- Primary CarePlease also note that if you also see your primary care for part of your wellness exam and schedule your breast and pelvic exam with us, we may be billing the same code. Your insurance company will only pay for one annual exam and you will be responsible for the full billed amount of the denied service. Always check with your priimary care provider to see how they have billed your exam and let us know as well so we can possibly prevent additional out of pocket expense for you.
- Family PracticeIs this your first pregnancy or your fifth? Or are you unsure if you’re even ready to become a parent? Either way, pre-conception counseling begins before you start trying to get pregnant. This visit with your physician or midwife will cover your OB/GYN history, your family health history, and questions about your lifestyle. Your caregiver may also discuss certain genetic tendencies with you, like the correlation of Tay Sach’s disease with people of Ashkenazi Jewish descent or sickle-cell anemia with people of African descent.
- Emergency CareRoutine visits are by appointment only. However, we are prepared to handle your urgent care needs either at the office or at the hospital. We do provide same day appointments for urgent issues that can safely be managed in the office. Our normal business hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. Office hours by appointment provide the most convenient and best service for you. If you find that you cannot keep your appointment, kindly notify us as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to provide care for another patient.
- Infectious DiseasesBlood tests to check blood type and exposure and immunity to the same infectious diseases. This will be done on your first visit. The practice also recommends that all pregnant women be tested for Hepatitis B. NC State law requires that you are tested for HIV and Syphillis.
- Urinary IncontinenceDid you know that women experience urinary incontinence (UI) twice as often as men? The structure of the female urinary tract, childbirth, and menopause all contribute to this discrepancy, but the specialists at Wendover OB/GYN are here to help.
- ImmunizationsRoutine annual exam visits for patients are scheduled to promote wellness and disease prevention. These visits can also include additonal services, such as vaccinations, screening labs, counseling, and even management of insignificant medical problems. Unfortunately, many patients think this visit also includes managment of all problems they want their provider to address during this visit. Significant problems (e.g. irregular bleeding, abdominal pain, etc.) require additional work-up and the visit now becomes a combination preventive and problem-oriented visit. The problem-oriented visit is not a component of the annual exam and the provider, if time allows, will do both but will also have to bill an additional code to your insurance company. The additional code will most likely be subject to a co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible. Always let staff know ahead of time if you have a problem you need addressed during your visit. Depending on the type and complexity of the presenting problem, your provider may ask you to come back for either the preventive visit or the problem-oriented visit if there is not enough time to address both.

- Labor and DeliveryMany women prefer natural childbirth to labor and delivery in a hospital bed with pain medication. Immersion in water is a centuries-old practice to reduce the pain of labor and help the mother relax. The buoyancy of the water helps the mother move more easily into different positions, which allows the baby shift into the best alignment within the pelvis. This combination of relaxation, maternal mobility, and correct fetal alignment leads to faster labors in water, with less bruising and tearing for the mother.
