- Stroke RehabilitationWe work closely with the award winning Cone Stroke Center to provide rapid interpretation of Code Stroke CT scans, supplemented with CT Angiography, CT Perfusion, or Cerebral Angiography for catheter thrombolysis by our Neurointerventional team, where appropriate.
- Primary CareBe part of a multidisciplinary program for treating lung cancer that includes primary care doctors, pulmonologists, radiologists, thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists and pathologists
- Smoking CessationIf screening tests reveal coronary artery disease, there are steps you can take to lower your risk for having a heart attack or worsening heart disease. Your doctor may recommend lifestyle changes such as a healthier diet, exercise and smoking cessation. Medications may also be necessary. Medicines can treat coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, an irregular heartbeat and low blood flow. In some cases, more advanced treatments and surgical procedures can help restore blood flow to the heart.

- Emergency CareEmergency radiology is a sub-specialty of radiology that primarily focuses on diagnosing acute illnesses and injuries of emergency room (ER) patients. This relatively new specialty greatly increases the care and treatment of patients and boosts the quality of emergency medicine as a whole.
- ColonoscopyVirtual colonoscopy is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure that takes standard CT images of the abdomen while special software converts those images into a three-dimensional moving picture of the inside of the colon. A specially trained radiologist uses these images to look for polyps or abnormalities.
- ElectrocardiogramElectrocardiography (ECG or EKG), which measures the electrical activity of the heart and reveals information on heart rate and rhythm.

- Lung CancerChest x-ray and sputum cytology. A chest x-ray makes images of the heart, lungs, airways, blood vessels and the bones of the spine and chest. Imaging with x-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. Sputum cytology is a procedure in which a sample of sputum (mucus that is coughed up from the lungs) is viewed under a microscope to check for cancer cells. However, the use of chest x-ray and sputum cytology, individually or in combination, has not resulted in a decreased risk of dying from lung cancer.
- Mental HealthIn the event that North Carolina law or another federal law requires us to give more protection to your health information than stated in this Notice or required by HIPAA, we will provide that additional protection. For example, we will comply with North Carolina law relating to communicable diseases, such as HIV and AIDS. We will also comply with North Carolina law and federal law relating to treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues.

- Thyroid CancerNuclear medicine radiologists also utilize radiopharmaceuticals to treat hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, solid tumors or painful bone metastases. After graduating from medical school, nuclear medicine radiologists must complete a lengthy four-year residency in diagnostic radiology and be trained in a wide variety of imaging techniques, including the diagnostic and therapeutic use of radioactive pharmaceuticals. Nuclear radiologists are further required to have one or more years of additional nuclear medicine training. All educational programs must be certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- UltrasoundInterventional radiologists (IRs) use their expertise in reading X-rays, ultrasound and other medical images to guide small instruments such as catheters (tubes that measure just a few millimeters in diameter) through the blood vessels or other pathways to treat disease percutaneously (through the skin). These procedures are typically much less invasive and much less costly than traditional surgery.
- MRIThe 10 Neuroradiologists comprising the Neuroimaging section provide 24/7 final subspecialty interpretations for all CT and MRI examinations of the Brain, Spine, Head and Neck, including the craniocerebral blood vessels.
- RadiologyThis is easily the strongest partnership I've ever seen between a radiology group and a health system... a strong, trusting, interdependent relationship that is mutually beneficial."
- X-Rays
- Nuclear MedicineIs a specialty that uses safe, painless and cost-effective techniques to take images of the body and treat disease. Nuclear medicine gathers medical information that would otherwise be unavailable, require surgery or may necessitate more expensive diagnostic tests. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures often can identify abnormalities very early in the progress of a disease – long before many medical problems are apparent with other diagnostic tests.
- MammographyThe ACR currently requires that medical centers participate in physician peer review to obtain and maintain accreditation; only institutions and programs that specialize in mammography and stereotactic and ultrasonography-guided breast biopsy procedures are exempted. However, the ACR requirement is voluntary, and noncompliance incurs no penalty other than refusal of accreditation. The JCAHO similarly requires that all staff participate in peer review, with a continuous random review of 5% of cases for ongoing credentialing.
- Computed TomographyIs also known as a CAT (computer assisted tomography) scan. A CT scan provides cross-sectional X-rays of the body, which are called slices.
- Radiation Therapy*January 21, 2013 Dr. Glenn Yamagata discusses advancements in treating metastatic cancer with Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT)on Fox 8’s House Call segment.
- Interventional RadiologyWe provide diagnostic and interventional radiology services for hospitals, outpatient facilities, and private practices across the Triad region. You can schedule an exam directly through our partner facilities. The radiology department phone numbers for each location are listed below.
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryWhen cancer is found with screening, patients can more often undergo minimally invasive surgery and have less lung tissue removed.
- Gangrene
- HysterectomyUterine artery embolization An embolization procedure of uterine arteries to stop life- threatening postpartum bleeding, potentially preventing hysterectomy. The same procedure is used to treat fibroid tumors and is then called UFE.
- Skin CancerChemoembolization Delivery of cancer-fighting agents directly to the site of a cancer tumor; currently being used mostly to treat cancers of the endocrine system, including melanoma and liver cancers.
- Ulcer
- LesionsVertebroplasty Treats painful fractures and other lesions of the spinal column, to provide rapid relief of symptoms and protect from further damage or fracture.
