- Dental ExaminationIn addition to a dental examination by Dr. Welch, our qualified dental hygienists use preventive dentistry techniques to help stop cavities and prevent other oral health problems. They thoroughly clean your teeth and gums, remove plaque, and check for periodontal (gum) disease, cavities, and bite problems. If you need advice about the most effective ways to clean your teeth and gums, or you have questions about dental procedures, cosmetic concerns, or other dental topics, we are here to help.
- X-raysYes, dental x-rays are safe. Some of our patients don’t want to have x-rays during routine checkups because they are concerned about radiation, while others want to avoid routine x-rays to save money. We’d like to set your mind at ease about both of these concerns and explain why periodic dental x-rays are a necessary part of your oral health plan and essential to avoiding unnecessary dental expenses in the future.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningWe believe oral cancer screening is essential to every initial exam and recall exam. While no single test will eliminate the risk of dying from cancer, early detection expands the range of treatment options and increases the likelihood of recovery. Especially if you are a smoker, tobacco chewer, heavy alcohol drinker, or have had oral cancer, letting a dentist keep tabs on your oral health is just good sense.
- Teeth CleaningIf one of your close blood relatives has periodontal disease, it may mean you're more susceptible to gum disease, even if you are currently experiencing no symptoms of gum inflammation. So be sure to tell Dr. Welch at your next dental checkup if someone in your family has gum disease. We'll monitor you closely, possibly recommending more frequent dental checkups, teeth cleanings, and other preventative dental care to help you avoid gum disease.
- Fillings
- Resin CompositeThe bonding material is a composite resin applied to the damaged part of the tooth and matches the color of your tooth, so it looks like your natural tooth. Tooth bonding is not only good for regaining a healthy smile but also for maintaining good oral health and preventing further damage to the affected tooth.
- VeneersVeneers make teeth look great and protect them, and they can give you a smile you've always dreamed of! A tooth veneer is a thin coat of dental porcelain bonded to the front surface of a tooth to help change the shape of the tooth or improve the coloring of the tooth. Not only are veneers aesthetically pleasing, but they also protect your teeth's surfaces.
- CrownsDental crowns are used to repair teeth that have been badly damaged by decay or injury or to correct cosmetic imperfections. Dr. Welch can make the crowns in the office, which makes it possible for a patient to get a dental crown placed in a single day.
- BridgesThe second visit: Dr. Welch removes the temporary bridge and places the new, custom-fabricated dental bridge into your mouth.
- Dental BondingWhile your teeth are very strong and durable, there are instances where they may suffer minor damage that requires attention. Tooth bonding is an excellent option for reconstructing chipped teeth, filling gaps between teeth, and changing the shape of teeth (such as lengthening a tooth shorter than the rest).
- Root Canal TreatmentUnder the hard, visible tooth surface lies a softer area of tissue called dental pulp, which contains blood vessels, connective tissue, and nerves. Teeth have roots — the longer, narrow parts of the tooth under the gum line that connect your teeth to your jaw bone. The nerves in a tooth, which primarily tell you whether something in your mouth is hot or cold, are within the root canals in the tooth's roots. If you have deep decay within teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, or damaged teeth due to facial trauma, the dental pulp and tooth nerve can become infected, irritated, and inflamed.
- DenturesDentures replace missing teeth and will give you the confidence to have a great smile once again. There are two types of dentures: complete dentures, used when all teeth are missing; and partials, used when some natural teeth remain.
- Dental ImplantsDental implants are one of the most effective ways to replace missing teeth and have a highly favorable outcome. Missing teeth can cause problems with eating, bone loss, and tooth alignment and may even make many patients feel self-conscious when smiling or speaking. Implants are one option for patients looking to correct their tooth loss.
- Tooth ExtractionsIf you have a severely damaged or infected tooth, your tooth may need to be pulled or extracted. In most cases, you’ll receive a bridge or dental implant to fill the space where the tooth was removed. When you leave the office after a tooth extraction, it is very important that you treat the affected area carefully and take any medications Dr. Welch prescribes for you as directed.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsIf you are an adult with tooth overcrowding, gaps between teeth or bite problems, the nearly invisible Invisalign system may be a great solution. Invisalign
- BracesInvisalign® can be an excellent alternative to straighten your teeth without braces. Our seasoned dental staff can help you decide if it's the right solution for you.
- Teeth WhiteningAt the Greensboro cosmetic dental office of Dr. Scott Welch, we offer you the best in-office dental tooth bleaching services, which will help whiten your stained teeth and restore your natural tooth color. Tooth-whitening and bleaching procedures are one of the most popular cosmetic dentist services. They're affordable and quick, and the tooth-whitening results speak for themselves.
- Cosmetic DentistryYour smile is one of the first things people notice about you—a healthy, attractive smile makes a positive impression on everyone you meet! Unfortunately, many people hide their smiles because they are uncomfortable with crooked, discolored, or uneven teeth. Cosmetic dentistry can dramatically improve your smile, whether you want to correct a chipped tooth, get whiter teeth, or straighten your teeth.
