General Info

Crina Vintila, MD, is a medical oncologist and hematologist who has been at Northwell Health for more than two decades, at the Don Monti Cancer Center in Glen Cove, the Northwell Cancer Institute at Huntington, and now at the Monter Cancer Center. She is a part of the breast cancer, GI, and head and neck cancer teams. She is also an assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/ Northwell. Growing up in Eastern Europe with two doctors as parents, a microscope in the house and casual medical conversation over dinner, choosing medicine as a profession was a no-brainer. Graduating high school as valedictorian opened up many career pathways. She received her medical degree from the Carol Davilla University of Medicine in Bucharest, Romania. In the U.S., Dr. Vintila completed her internal medicine residency at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weil Cornell Medical Center, followed by hematology-oncology fellowship at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island (formerly Winthrop Hospital). In 2000 she joined North Shore/LIJ, which would eventually become Northwell. "I have witnessed firsthand the amazing transformation of this network, from a group of a few hospitals to the major health system and integral part of this community,” she says. That sense of community has been the foundation of her approach to patient care. "Individualizing care is the key to success in a medical practice here," she says. Listening to patient and family concerns are skills that Dr. Vintila prioritizes. Being fluent in many languages, including Spanish, French and Romanian, offers her a deeper perspective into patients’ needs and an advantage in attending to the demands of such diverse population. Dr. Vintila, who is double board-certified, has had the privilege of being part of the most dedicated team of medical professionals, taking advantage of the considerable breadth of resource the system offers. In 2022 her premium profile was featured as a Top Hematologist Oncologist representing Glen Head, New York. The magnitude of Northwell network impacts not only ongoing medical research and innovative treatment options, but, in the end, it translates into a superior patient care, a pledge to which Dr. Vintila subscribes wholeheartedly.
