- Medical Weight LossWe also encourage patients who intend to lose a lot of weight to wait before undergoing the procedure, since skin in the abdominal area typically loosens after substantial weight loss.
- GlaucomaComplications from blepharoplasty are uncommon, but can include infection, reaction to anesthesia, dry eyes, double or blurred vision for a few days, temporary swelling of the eyelids, tiny whiteheads, and difficulty closing eyes when going to sleep. Uneven healing and scarring, and ectropion (pulling down of the lower lids) are very rare and may require surgical correction. Patients with thyroid problems, dry eye, high blood pressure, diabetes, detached retina, glaucoma or other health problems should consult with an ophthalmologist about eligibility.

- BotoxWhen you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.

- Eyelid SurgeryRoutine upper and lower eyelid surgery is performed as an outpatient. Most patients will be up and about the following day. Although one may feel like working at home in as little as two days after the surgery, they will usually wait at least five to seven days to return to work or other public places. The sutures are removed at three to four days and makeup can be applied one day following that. Most of the associated swelling will resolve within two weeks. Interestingly, eyelid surgery results usually last longer than other facial rejuvenate procedures; and for this reason, these procedures are rarely repeated.
- LiposuctionLiposuction, also called lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body, face or neck. Liposuction can be used to slim the hips and thighs, flatten the abdomen, shape the calves and ankles or eliminate a double chin. Patients can achieve improvement in their body contour through the use of liposuction or lipoplasty. In liposuction a surgeon will utilize hollow steel tubes passed beneath the skin to suction areas of excessive fatty tissue. Liposuction is a technique that can be used in most areas of the body where there is fatty tissue. As in any sculpting process, the final result depends mostly on what tissue is left behind rather than what is removed. By removing fatty tissue the surgeon can often restore more youthful contours to the patient. In some cases, such as large ankles, a patient may even be able to achieve a result that they have never experienced before.

- RhinoplastyRhinoplasties are most commonly performed on an outpatient basis. Depending on the complexity of the surgery indicated by the needs of the patient, a procedure may last anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. A surgical splint is usually worn on the nose following the surgery for up to one week. In addition a patient may have light nasal packing for a brief period of up to two days. Although most of the swelling will decrease in two months, some swelling, especially at the nasal tip, can take as long as six months or even longer to completely subside. Bruising around the nose, eyes, and cheeks that sometimes accompanies this surgery will usually resolve in two weeks; however, it can be camouflaged with makeup if one desires to be in public at an earlier time. In preparing for a rhinoplasty the surgeon will spend at least a couple of visits with the patient determining their exact needs and expectations. In addition the patient may be requested to bring photographs from magazines of noses that they both like and do not like. This will help prepare an accurate surgical plan to achieve the patient's desired result.

- Face LiftA facelift (rhytidectomy) is a general term comprising many small operative maneuvers which together give the most powerful rejuvenating effect to the aging face. In the lower part of the face a facelift will treat the jowls and loose neck skin giving a sharp, crisp angle to the neck and chin junction. In the midface a facelift will help decrease nasolabial folds (the furrows extending from the outside of the nose to just alongside the corners of the mouth) and elevate the tissues below the cheeks. Patients may rediscover a fuller and more youthful upper cheek area following facelift surgery. Platysmal bands (the bands noted in the neck when one sticks out their chin and grins) are significantly improved with the facelift surgery. When the surgery is combined with eyelid and brow procedures, in the appropriate patient, a complete facial rejuvenation can be achieved.
- Neck LiftNeck lift: A neck lift concentrates on jowls, loose skin on the neck, and fat under the chin. The incision is made around the ear lobe and behind the ear to the lower scalp.
- BlepharoplastyIncisions are made along the eyelids in inconspicuous places: in the natural creases of the upper lids for upper eyelid blepharoplasty and just below the lash line on the lower lids for lower eyelid blepharoplasty. If no skin needs to be removed, the surgeon will likely perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, where the incision is made inside the lower eyelid and there are no visible scars.
- AbdominoplastyThere are several levels of abdominoplasty surgery depending on the needs and desires of the patient. A mini-abdominoplasty is utilized in patients who are usually younger and have slight excess fullness of the abdomen without significant skin deformities such as stretch marks. This procedure usually takes 2 to 21/2 hours and leaves a small, horizontal scar just above the pubic area. In a mini-abdominoplasty no significant alteration of the umbilicus is performed.
- Nose SurgeryNose surgery, or rhinoplasty, can yield a greater variety of improvements than any other aesthetic procedure. This variety is based on the expectations and goals of the patients seeking the surgery. Patients may request reduction of a prominent hump on the top of the nose. They may wish their noses to be made smaller or larger. They may also wish refinement of their tips. In addition some deformities resulting from previous trauma can also be improved during the surgery. In addition many patients will find that their breathing may improve following rhinoplasty surgery. Many ethnic patients will request refinement of their nasal appearance while still maintaining their ethnic identity.
- OtoplastyIndividuals who feel self-conscious about their ears and want to improve their appearance may be good candidates for otoplasty. While such operations are most frequently performed on children ages 4 to 14, they can be beneficial to people of any age. Ears are almost fully grown by age 4, and early surgery can help create self-confidence as a child begins to deal with the social complexities of school.
- Scar RevisionPatients who have had previous abdominal surgery should know that their old scars could be raised, stretched or generally more noticeable after the procedure. A scar revision procedure after abdominoplasty may minimize the appearance of an unsightly scar.

- GynecomastiaGynecomastia is a term that is used to described abnormal female-like breast development in men. This process is usually seen in the middle to late teenage years of men. This can be a very distressing problem for young men, and they will often gain weight to help disguise it. In addition men will refrain from athletic activities and will avoid removing their shirts so as not to display this unusual appearance. The surgical procedure to correct this usually involves a combination of liposuction as well as direct excision. Scars are usually limited to the area just below the nipple as well as an occasional small incision in the armpit area. For more severe cases, more extensive incisions may be utilized; but this is rare.
- Cosmetic SurgeryBreast augmentation can achieve dramatic and beautiful results on its own as well as in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery or non-invasive procedures. We sometimes recommend combining breast augmentation with other procedures such as a breast lift for more satisfying results.
- Facial ImplantsMen and woman can highlight areas of the face using facial implants. The most common areas that are augmented are the cheek and chin areas. Implants are usually made of silicone or a substance that is similar to sea coral. The implants are placed through small incisions and are well hidden. Patients who may never have had a prominent chin or cheekbones can now enjoy the enhanced appearance with these implants. Implants can also be placed in other areas of the face including the grooves between the lower eyelids and the nose, the area between the nose and the upper lip, as well as alongside the jaw.

- AllergiesRadiesse® is composed of microspheres in a water-based gel. The microspheres-made of a substance called calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)-stimulate the production of collagen to smooth lines and wrinkles and also add younger-looking suppleness to the face. Radiesse® is made from minerals similar to what makes up our bones. There is no need for pre-treatment allergy testing, and it is absorbed naturally by the body over time.
