- Dental CareOur veterinarians perform a full nose to tail exam at each wellness visit. They look for things such as body condition, dental health, lumps, bumps and changes from previous exams. This thorough physical allows them to catch and address problem areas to keep their patients healthy.
- VaccinationVaccinations Vaccinations help the body's immune system recognize and fight disease. There are "core" vaccines which are recommended for each patient, and "noncore" vaccines which are lifestyle based. Our staff recommends a customized vaccine protocol based upon your pet's overall risk to various diseases. Click on the vaccination below to learn more.
- Veterinary OphthalmologyThe eyes are very delicate organs and it is important to treat them with the utmost care. Many problems can plague the eyes, from mild irritation or infection to visually threatening glaucoma. Ocular problems must be treated promptly and professionally to ensure the best outcome. Our veterinarians are trained to diagnose and treat injuries as well as a variety of eye ailments such as glaucoma, dry eye and cataracts.
- Nutritional CounselingOur treadmill is specialized with many features that are required of a successful rehab program. Our staff can choose a treadmill speed and water height and monitor the patient's time and distance throughout their session, changing any of these parameters as needed. The water in the treadmill is heated to provide relaxation for the muscles during work. The buoyancy of the water also plays a major role in the success of treadmill therapy. Patients who have undergone orthopedic surgery, for example, often need to be kept strictly confined to allow the surgical site to heal correctly. During activity restriction, lost of muscle mass, reduced joint mobility and weight gain can occur. Buoyancy in the underwater treadmill prevents overstress of the surgical site during controlled activity. This then allows for the correct amount and type of stress to the surgical area and can accelerate healing. Most surgical patients may start accelerated rehabilitation once the sutures have been removed from the surgical site.
- Comprehensive ExaminationExotic Pets The Packerland staff has received additional training that allows us to treat a wide variety of non-traditional pets. We have experience with everything from birds, ferrets and rabbits to snakes and lizards and everything in between. These special pets have special needs and it is important that they are cared for properly to keep them healthy and happy. Regular veterinary care and annual physical exams are important for ensuring proper diet and husbandry and catching the subtle symptoms of illness these pets may display. Exotic pets have become important members of the family and we are here to help you care for all of your scaley/feathered/fuzzy friends!
- Parasites Treatment and ControlOur goal at Packerland is to provide thorough and efficient service to all of our patients. Sometimes that may be as simple as an annual Heartworm test, but it can also involve a more serious need to quickly and accurately diagnose a potentially life threatening problem. Packerland is committed to providing the most current technology and training to assist our veterinarians with making the best recommendations for the care and treatment of your pet.
- Pain ManagementThe long term effect of these conditions and abnormal development is degenerative joint disease (arthritis) leading to wear and erosion of the cartilage on the medial aspect of the elbow joint. Over time, the cartilage deterioration causes increasing inflammation, joint instability and severe pain. The resultant syndrome is referred to as Medial Compartment Disease. Medial Compartment Disease has long been difficult to effectively treat. Although pain management drugs may help the dog feel better and cope with a bad elbow, they do not alter the progression of the disease.
- Skin Condition and Allergy TreatmentDermatology Most pets will be afflicted by some type of skin condition at least once in their lifetime. Skin conditions can arise from allergies, reactions to parasites, infections or even cancers. Our veterinarians have the most up to date training in how to diagnose and treat these conditions and many more!
- Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
- Injury TreatmentTissue stimulation at the cellular level allows the laser to treat a variety of conditions. When used post-operatively, the laser speeds healing and decreases pain and swelling. Acute injuries, such as sprains and strains can be treated to decrease pain and swelling while also improving mobility. Studies have shown that energy stimulation at different frequencies provides different types of tissue stimulation. The therapy laser allows us to adjust the frequency of the light beam so that we can treat many other types of conditions. For example, a frequency of 10,000Hz has antimicrobial properties allowing us to treat bite wounds and ear infections. A frequency of 5,000Hz activates cellular healing, which is beneficial in the treatment of issues such as lick granulomas and burns. The treatment of chronic conditions such as arthritis is also possible, allowing us to provide comfort and relief without the use of drugs.
- Intestinal Foreign Object Removal
- Leptospirosis TreatmentConsidered a core vaccine in our region. Leptospirosis causes severe liver and kidney damage and can be spread from dogs to humans, therefore posing a public health hazard.
- Feline Retro Virus TreatmentFeline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus are serious viral diseases that are often spread to kittens by their mother or through direct contact with an infected cat. Cats with these diseases will have suppressed immune systems and knowing their status allows us to form better treatment plans for those patients.
- Ear Infection TreatmentWe are new to the area and Packerland worked to accommodate us and fit into their schedule. The care for my pups ear infections is deeply appreciated
- Arthritis TreatmentStem Cell therapy is most often used for conditions involving bone, ligament, tendon and muscle injury/disease, such as: osteoarthritis, fractures, Achilles tendon injury, etc. There are also other applications for stem cell therapy, but they are considered "Compassionate Care" treatments and require pre-approval before the treatment is performed. Some compassionate care applications include: spinal conditions such as degenerative myleopathy, inflammatory bowel disease, end-stage renal disease, diabetes, chronic and active hepatitis, and others. Patients with a recent or active neoplastic (cancerous) condition, or an active infection should not receive stem cell therapy.
- Hip Dysplasia TreatmentHip dysplasia is a relatively common disorder of the hip joints in dogs. It is a condition that is progressive in nature and, if left untreated or undetected, can cause irreversible damage to the joints. Dog's hips are very similar in anatomy to ours in the sense that it is a ball and socket configuration. A diagnosis of hip dysplasia means that the fit of the ball within the socket is less than ideal. This poor fit allows instability or "slop" within the joint. The laxity present allows for excessive movement within the joint which creates inflammation, causes abnormal wear on the cartilage surface and creates arthritis.
- Diabetes Treatment
- Thyroid Disease TreatmentWhile all pets should have annual bloodwork, it is of the utmost importance in our senior patients. Establishing a baseline of bloodwork is helpful for tracking subtle changes over time as changes in bloodwork can be indicative of larger issues. In addition to standard bloodwork, there may be other tests recommended, such as urinalysis, thyroid testing and radiographs.
- Knee Problems TreatmentIn dogs, lameness that stems from the stifle (knee) joint tends to fall into two main categories; ACL injury or Luxating Patella. Additionally, hind limb lameness can be due to bone fractures or, less commonly, OCD. With any of these conditions, it is important to remember that early intervention will provide for the most ideal overall prognosis. When a pet is lame, they are in pain. When the lameness and pain is allowed to continue, the inflammation present causes irreversible damage to the joint. Surgery to fix the underlying problem will not address the arthritis that has already built up in the joint, only slow down future progression.

- Periodontal Disease TreatmentPackerland is dedicated to keeping your pet healthy and happy and dental care is an integral part of that equation. Although preventable, periodontal disease is unfortunately all too common among pets. Dental disease doesn't just cause bad breath, if left untreated, it becomes a source of chronic pain. Even the mildest of dental disease can lead to tooth loss and all of that bacteria can damage the heart, liver and kidneys! Our pets cannot brush their own teeth so it is up to us to provide the care that they need to stay healthy.
- Cancer TreatmentIt is always difficult to learn that your beloved pet may have cancer. We have many diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, radiographs and bloodwork that can help us diagnose and determine the best treatment plan for your pet. Some cancers can be cured by our veterinarians with aggressive surgical removal, but for those that cannot be, our hospital offers other methods of treatment such as Chemotherapy and use of the K9-ACV Cancer Vaccine. Fortunately, there are now multiple ways to help our pets live longer, happier lives!
- Wound and Fracture CareThe training, equipment, and services that Packerland can offer the orthopedic patient are often only available at specialized teaching hospitals. We have brought cutting edge technology to our practice to provide our patients with the best care that is available anywhere. Whether it's the new CBLO procedure for knee ligament injuries, arthroscopic procedures for minimally invasive joint surgery, or the latest techniques in fracture repair, Packerland is dedicated to providing your pet with the best care available.
- Veterinary SurgeryPackerland provides a full range of routine surgical services for your pet including Spay, Neuter and Declaw procedures. Because we know that your pet is a member of the family, we strive to provide the same care for them as you would expect for yourself. All of our routine procedures come as part of a package which allows us to provide important standard of care components that ensure your pet is safe and comfortable during and following their procedure. While anesthesia does not come without risks, we do our best to minimize those risks by catering our anesthetic protocol to each individual patient and providing the most up to date surgical practices and care procedures.

- Laboratory ServicesWe have an extensive in-house laboratory available at our fingertips which allows us to quickly address many needs our patients have on a regular basis. We run routine bloodwork screens, parasite testing and urinalysis and have the results within minutes. Additionally, we have the ability to run more specialized testing in-house. Everything from Thyroid, Fructosamine, and Pancreatic testing to cytology and clotting profiles are performed right here by our highly trained technical staff. Having the availability to receive routine, advanced and therapeutic monitoring results before an appointment ends saves on time and unnecessary worry for our patients and families.
- X-RayDigital radiography allows us to view an instant, adjustable and high quality 2d image of your pet which aids us in accurately diagnosing or ruling out many conditions. Most general radiographs can be obtained by our technician staff in minutes without the need for sedation. Occasionally however, more complicated views, views in pets that are especially painful or uncooperative will require something extra to relax them.
- Dental RadiologyIn addition to standard large view radiography, we have a specialized digital dental radiography system. In the same way it is used in human dentistry, this assists us during dental procedures to give our veterinarians a view of the tooth and bone structure under the gum line, allowing us to better assess the overall health of the mouth. Dental radiography often catches concerns such as fractures or abscesses that we would otherwise miss with a visual examination and assists us in making the best possible recommendations for your pet’s health.

- GroomingHannah has always had a love for animals. In 2022 she decided to pursue a career in pet grooming and hasn't looked back! She loves getting to know each individual pet and making them look their best. In her free time she can be found cuddling her calico cat Muffin.
- Senior Pet CareAs pets age, their basic needs may change. Our goal at Packerland is to provide the support your pet needs to maintain a healthy, active life into their twilight years. On average, pets are considered "senior" around seven years of age, although species, breed and size will all play a role. Because pets age twice as fast as people and senior pets are more likely to have significant health changes, we recommend twice yearly preventative exams. The goal of these visits is to catch health issues early, allowing us better opportunity to treat underlying problems before they become a bigger concern. Early intervention leads to decreased pain, better quality of life and longer life expectancy overall which is always our goal!
