A few months ago I came home to my water shut off by the city because my main waterline blew. Luckily I had a place to stay over the weekend. Even so, McDonald Plumbing was willing and able to replace my main line the next day (Saturday). When they came out everyone was professional, courteous, and patient with all my dumb questions. They laid carpet in my house and cleaned up all the dust before they left. It's good to know they're around in case I have another emergency.

Their service technicians were great and friendly. Price was good. But I am rating McDonald Plumbing low overall because I received a suprise when I received a copy of my credit report (while obtaining a new mortgage) - I saw that they had placed a credit inquiry on me. These types of inquiries make it look like you have applied for new credit and you have to explain them away (or follow a snail-mail process to have them disputed/removed) in order to clear up your credit. An inquiry of this type will lower your credit score by several points for 6 months and does not disappear from your credit report for 2 years. I talked to a company representative who stated that this is to ensure the customer can pay and that customers do not complain about this - of course, not - the average person does not see their credit report on a regular basis! Deceptive (possibly illegal) practice, plain and simple.
