      The Excel Charter Academy, founded in 1995, offers learning options to students in grades five through eight. The academy conducts reading, language and math skills development classes. It provides various sports activities, such as basketball, soccer, cross-country and volleyball. The Excel Charter Academy offers several extracurricular activities, including band, orchestra and choir. The academy has an yearbook committee and drama team. It is a recipient of the Summit Award for Innovative Programming from the Michigan Association of Public School Academies. The Excel Charter Academy participates in several community events and programs. The academy is a part of National Heritage Academies.
