Valley Eldercare Center, located in Grand Forks, N.D., is part of Valley Memorial Homes, a Christian, nonprofit organization, providing a planned, full-service life care retirement community and owned by more than 20 area Lutheran congregations. Founded in 1981, the center is a 160-bed skilled nursing facility, providing 24-hour nursing care by licensed nursing staff, trained for subacute needs. It provides physical, occupational and speech therapies, nutritional services that meet the physician's orders and the resident's individual needs, and a variety of activities, including musical and support groups, games and field trips. It meets the spiritual needs of residents through its chaplains who provide ecumenical church services, Catholic Mass, Bible study groups, sacraments and memorial services.
