Established in 1991, Balance is a nonprofit organization operated by a voluntary board of directors, to provide support to people with developmental disabilities, to assist them in discovering and connecting with their community and help people develop relationships that will enhance their lives. Its supported living program provides assistance in the home a few hours each week with money management, home management, meal planning and other activities. It also provides adult family homes in Ozaukee County, shared by two individuals who require 24-hour assistance and supervision each day due to their disability. Balance also provides individual counseling for those participating in its services, occupational therapy sessions and consultations to schools seeking to enhance the skills of their students in order to prepare them for adult life. It also provides volunteer opportunities. Balance is headquartered in Grafton, Wis.
