I purchased a 1/2 price coupon for a rafting trip in late March '11 with an expiration date of May '11. Because we were still in the trenches of winter until the first few weeks of May, I held off on making a reservation for the trip. The first 2 phone calls and emails went unanswered. When I finally got through, there were 3 days left before the trip date. I was advised by the company rep that he first "needed to reprimand me for calling so late" because the spots for my chosen day had filled up. The coupon had no specifics about when/how to make a reservation. With the weather being cold, damp, and rainy, why would 3 days notice not be acceptable notice? When I didn't respond, he went on: "Why didn't you use this earlier? The deal has been out since March." Whose problem is this exactly? Mine for asking to use something I paid for, or yours for not being clear in your promotion? Unacceptable.
