Clifton Country Inn has some of the best ���Home Cooking��� around. The wait staff is friendly (almost like family) and the atmosphere is very quaint, decorated with antiques. The prices are very reasonable and the daily specials are always good; they serve anything on the menu at anytime of day. With a diverse menu of everything from healthy fair to good old greasy spoon there is something to satisfy everyone���s taste.

Even with several healthy items on the menu, Clifton Country Inn is a great place to get your Comfort Food. The Biscuits & Gravy are fantastic, so is the Chili and the Chicken & Dumplings. They even offer Mid-West favorites such as Slingers, Horseshoes and Ponies, and Country Fried Steak. And of course they have several varieties of Fish on the menu too.

My daughters love going here because they can get a Ham Steak, Eggs, and Macaroni & Cheese for breakfast! Or for that matter they can get fresh Doughnuts, terrific Pancakes, Chicken Strips or whatever else they could want. My wife isn���t much for breakfast so she loves to get a big Cheese Burger. It sure beats a bowl of cereal.

Plus, a drive up the picturesque Great River Road is always a welcome adventure. Definitely worth the short drive; just 5 minutes away from either Downtown Alton, or up Delmar from Alton Square. Open 7 days a week; you won���t be disappointed. Actually, you may be disappointed that they close at 3:00. Breakfast and Lunch only, but still a great spot to stop on your next trip to Grafton or if you just want some great food. Don���t be fooled by the packed parking lot, it seems like a lot of people use it as a meeting place so there are more cars than tables. Of course this is also a testament to how good the food is. Even though they���re a little busy on weekend mornings, the service is always extremely quick.
