First Step offers programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities and delays. Its staff of trained teachers and therapists evaluates and organizes programs that suit the needs of the individuals. The center s early intervention program assesses the developmental level of children and helps to determine the course of action needed. First Step offers a preschool program that teaches children basic skills and gives them the special attention they need in preparation for attending public schools. It provides a school-age program for children to develop their independent living skills. The center offers therapeutic services to children and adults, including speech, occupational and physical therapies. In addition, it assists in the areas of hearing evaluation and screening, aural rehabilitation and sensory processing education. First Step has a location in Glenwood, Ark.
