After taking in a DVD for repair and waiting 3 months for an answer, I gave up and picked it up. I will get it repaired elsewhere. $30 upfront fee to look at it I'll chalk up to experience.

I had to deal with a dead LCD monitor today at work and it reminded me of my dealings with Ben's TV last year. To make a long story short, I sent them two LCD monitors for repair and after just over a year (yes, 12 months) they were unable to reliably repair either of them. They did give me a loaner during part of that time, which is a positive. However, I will never try to have them repair another monitor for me again.
