General Info

First Baptist Church is a local body of believers committed to worshiping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Southern Baptist church, we voluntarily cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention in spreading the gospel around the world. We emphasize the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions, and the Mary Hill Davis Offering for mission work in Texas. We are thankful for the denominational heritage we have received and believe strongly in the work and objectives of the Cooperative Program. Just as Jesus ministered to people of all ages and backgrounds, we desire to do the same. That's why you will discover ministries here geared to various life stages and needs. A place is provided for everyone to study the Bible, worship together, fellowship together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities. As we understand from examining the life and ministry of our Lord, the reason First Baptist Church exists can be summarized in three words knowing, growing and going. In Luke's chronological accounting of Jesus' interacting with people we find He called people to know Him personally. He spent time growing them in their faith. And then he sent them out to serve and to share the good news. Knowing...growing...going a very biblical and simple strategy. We are in the process of filtering everything we do through these three straightforward concepts. If what we are doing as a church family isn't leading others to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, to grow and mature in their faith and to go out from the church into the world to serve and share the gospel then we won't be doing it. Jesus' strategy was uncomplicated and effective.
