Rice Avenue Middle School, located in Girard, Pa., provides a safe learning environment for children. Governed by the Girard School District, it teaches classes from five through eight, and enrolls more than 700 students. Rice Avenue Middle School provides student assistant program, which is a formal and systematic approach to the early identification and intervention of students who are at risk due to drug, mental health and other problems. The school s curriculum includes speech and language, physical and health education, music and arts, science, mathematics, English, social studies, and technology and computer studies. It provides a wide range of programs and activities, such as after school tutoring program, clubs and band, student council, parent-teacher association, and field trips and outdoor activities. Rice Avenue Middle School also offers various athletic activities, including as basketball, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, tennis, track and field, cross-country, and softball.
