The Georgetown County Public Works Department is a part of Georgetown County Government. Based in Georgetown, S.C., It is involved in animal control services, such as managing stray dogs as well as wild animals. The department is also responsible for paving roads, grading contracting services, construction and maintenance of storm drainage systems and maintenance of the Georgetown County throughout the unincorporated areas of the county. It also provides services in other areas, such as mosquito control, solid waste/landfill and recycling and collections. The other departments of the Georgetown County include Department of Health and Environmental Control, Department of Health and Human Services, Georgetown County School District, Georgetown County Visitors Bureau and National Weather Service.
