- OsteoporosisElizabeth Wende Breast Care is a Center of Excellence and is on the cutting edge of technological advancements in breast care. With this in mind, EWBC has an active clinical trial and institutional research department that works to keep EWBC involved in the latest clinical research with new technologies. EWBC has been part of numerous multicenter clinical trials evaluating a range of technologies, including digital mammography (ACRIN 6652 – DMIST), breast MRI (ACRIN 6667), breast CT, digital breast tomosynthesis mammography, osteoporosis screening, and screening breast ultrasound in women with dense breast tissue.

- Primary CareMost women, at some point in their lives, will visit their primary care doctor with a breast concern. Although breast issues can present in many different ways, some of the more common problems women may encounter are discussed here. For example, most breast lumps turn out to be normal breast tissue consisting of fibrous and fatty tissue, which can feel lumpier at different times of the menstrual cycle and with weight fluctuation.
- Family Practice
- Emergency CareThe “No Surprises Act” is federal legislation that addresses billing when patients get emergency care or get treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center.
- Ovarian Cancer
- UltrasoundBreast ultrasound is done using a handheld unit called a transducer that is gently passed back and forth over the breast with slight pressure while a computer turns the sound waves into an image of the tissues inside the breast. This resulting image is called a sonogram or ultrasound scan. A breast ultrasound is most commonly performed when a mammogram identifies dense breast tissue.
- MRIMRI is an advanced, state-of-the-art medical imaging method. Breast MRI uses a powerful but harmless magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of the breast and its internal structures. No radiation is used for MRI imaging. The average Breast MRI appointment takes about one hour. However, the actual scan time is only about 20 minutes. Before the exam, you may eat and drink as usual and take medications as you usually would.
- RadiologyElizabeth Wende Breast Care follows the American College of Radiology/Society of Breast Imaging (ACR/SBI) breast cancer screening guidelines highlighting the importance of annual screening for all women.
- X-Rays
- MammographyElizabeth Wende Breast Care (EWBC) was an early adopter of 3D mammography, also called Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), by participating in landmark clinical research that led to FDA approval for 3D mammography and widespread implementation of this new and exciting technology throughout the United States.
- ChemotherapyMagnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a highly sensitive, noninvasive diagnostic tool often used with mammography and ultrasound. It helps physicians evaluate the extent of breast cancer, establish a treatment plan and monitor a patient’s response to chemotherapy. This advanced technology is also a valuable screening tool for patients considered to be at high risk for breast cancer, whether due to strong family history, genetic risk, personal history, or other risk factors.
- Radiation Therapy
- Cyst
- LesionsMore than 80% of all breast lesions identified for core biopsy are diagnosed as benign or non-cancerous and present no health risk to the patient.
