- Dental ExaminationYour crowned tooth may be sensitive for a few days after the procedure. Try to avoid sticky or chewy foods right after your crown is placed. Continue brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time and flossing once a day. Dr. Goodwin might also recommend fluoride mouthwash to better clean your teeth or a sensitivity toothpaste to help curb hot and cold sensitivity. It’s important to continue good dental hygiene as crowned teeth are still susceptible to decay near the gum line. Continuing your relationship with us by keeping up with your semi-annual cleanings and exams will aid in prolonging a lifelong healthy smile.
- X-raysOur office uses the Galileos Comfort Plus 3D CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) Imaging system. The imaging system is a special type of digital x-ray machine that takes thousands of dental computed tomography (CT) sections of the head and neck in one scan. The final image shows three dimensional (3-D) images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region. Images obtained with cone beam CT allow for more precise treatment planning because the image can be rotated, viewed at different depths, and manipulated to show the structures in more detail. Due to the digital nature of this imaging system, the exposure to radiation is decreased dramatically when compared to traditional panoramic x-rays.
- Teeth CleaningFor people who avoid dentists, sedation dentistry may take away some of their anxiety. Sedation can be used for everything from invasive procedures to a simple tooth cleaning. There are several options available- from nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to IV sedation.

You also receive a 15% discount on all dental treatments (cleanings, periodontal treatments, fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, and cosmetic services).
- BridgesA fixed bridge is created by anchoring and cementing the missing tooth to the adjacent teeth. A fixed bridge is secure and is undetectable. Oral care for a fixed bridge is like regular teeth- it requires daily brushing and flossing. This is a wonderful option if there is only one missing tooth and the adjacent teeth are healthy!
- Dental Bonding
- Root Canal TreatmentA root canal is done to repair and save teeth that have become infected or decayed. A root canal is also performed on teeth that have suffered damage from blunt force trauma and have been too badly injured.
- DenturesWhen an individual is missing most, or all, of their teeth, dentures are recommended. Dentures can solve a wide range of problems for patients who have had their teeth removed. Dentures can allow patients to use their mouths more normally again, like they were able to before losing their teeth.
- Dental ImplantsOur office uses a method for placing implants called Guided Implants. Traditionally, the placement of implants has been a surgical procedure. The surgeon would make an incision in the gums, create a flap, and would expose the bone tissue. The implant was then placed into the bone approximately where the surgeon determined the implant should go, and the gum was sutured (stitched) back in place.
- Oral SurgeryHe has completed hundreds of hours of additional training beyond dental school in cosmetic dentistry, oral and IV sedation, orthodontics, laser dentistry, oral surgery, and dental implants. He is continually advancing his education to provide the most current, technologically advanced treatments so that his patients can enjoy the best, most modern treatments available
- Tooth ExtractionsTooth extraction is usually relatively straightforward, and the vast majority can be usually performed quickly while the individual is awake by using local anesthetic injections. When an extraction is required, the area around the tooth will be numbed and Dr. Goodwin will remove the tooth. Local anesthetic blocks pain, but mechanical forces (pushing and pulling) are still felt.
- OrthodonticsWhile there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontics recommends they be checked for braces around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery. Early treatment allows Doctors to monitor the growth of the jaw and recommend further orthodontic treatment if it becomes necessary.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsInvisalign® is a modern alternative to straighten your teeth without wires or metal. Invisalign® involves a series of custom trays designed specifically for you and the plan your dentist or orthodontist creates to move your teeth. The trays are made from a smooth plastic that covers your teeth and gradually moves them into place.
