In 1978, the city of Garland was introduced to Texas Audio Car Stereo and Security. The founder, Manny Awad, had a vision to establish a performance mobile audio center for enthusiasts to purchase cutting edge products and have them professionally installed into their vehicles. Products that would later define the 12 volt industry, such as the original Fosgate Punch 45, an amplifier whose legacy is permanently etched into the hearts of bass junkies and music aficionados alike, was a staple at Texas Audio. Good tunes and good times was what inspired Manny to not solely focus on subwoofer and amplifier packages, but also encourage customers to upgrade their factory speakers with aftermarket full range coaxial and component speakers. With the growing popularity of mobile audio products came the need to provide assurance to the customer that their vehicle would be protected, so it was only right Texas Audio incorporated Vehicle Security into its line up. Viper and Clifford, the two most influential security alarm companies quickly made their way into almost every vehicle equipped with an aftermarket audio system. Motion sensors and glass audio sensors provided an extra relief for customers in order to try and avoid a worst case scenario of burglary. Probably one of the most amazing innovations is the wide array of different mobile video applications that are offered. You can have an in dash “All in One†unit in the deck for the front passengers and rear seat entertainment can be achieved using a flip down monitor or separate headrest monitors for each of the rear passengers. Rear view mirror and side mirror monitors are also available to be paired with bullet pin cameras in the rear bumper to help improve safety when reversing your vehicle. Times have changed and things are not quite as simple as they used to be. Current factory audio and security systems offer new challenges to adapt aftermarket quality products into OEM applications. Everything from amplifier bypasses to steering wheel control integration is sometimes a must for the customer who wishes to keep the factory look but back it up with the power and clarity of aftermarket engineering. Plus the industry is offering smart phone integration and 2-way paging remote start security systems that require more complex wiring “know how†in order to complete the job with confidence in the installation.
