Attorneys Ellen Makofsky and Judith Raskin are pioneers in elder law and remain leaders in the field today. They began focusing on elder law in 1991 when it was first beginning to be recognized as a distinct area of practice. The law firm Raskin & Makofsky has served Nassau County and surrounding areas since then.From 2006 to 2007, Ellen Makofsky served as the chair of the New York State Bar Association Elder Law Section, one of the association's largest sections. She serves as secretary of the Estate Planning Council of Nassau County, Inc She was the co-chair of the Legal Advisory Committee of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation. She co-founded the Senior Umbrella Network of Queens and served as its chair as well as chair of the Senior Umbrella Network of Nassau. In addition, Ms. Makofsky is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, IncJudith Raskin is also involved in many professional and social service organizations.
