      ;Sifu William R. Vardeman Sifu Vardeman has been a martial arts practitioner since 1968 and is a certified Black Sash Instructor (Sifu) in Combined Wing Chun Kung Fu. He is also the founder of Golden Talon Kung Fu and has served as an Ohio state director for the World Chinese Martial Arts Federation in 1985 and 1986. ;Sifu Vardeman is the author of Golden Talon Kung Fu (copyright 1997), an informational and instructional book covering the history, philosophy, and curriculum overview of the system. The book also includes the complete beginner level program. In 1992 Sifu Vardeman was recognized for his contribution to the martial arts in Karate Internationals Who in the Martial Arts. Additionally, he has been the subject of several newspaper articles in the Memphis Business Journal, Memphis Health Care News, and Memphis daily newspaper, The Commercial Appeal. A native of Akron, Ohio, Sifu Vardeman moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1987. A year later he opened the Golden Talon Kung Fu School and offered traditional training in Chinese kung fu, Yang style Tai Chi, and basic self-defense. He also taught his women basic self-defense course in physical education classes at Memphis-area private schools, for the Memphis YMCA and for The Commercial Appeal daily newspaper. Additionally, he developed a specialized self-defense course for the security staff of the Memphis Regional Medical Center. He has also taught Tai Chi at several retirement and assisted living communities in the Memphis area ;In 1998 Sifu Vardeman joined the staff of the Memphis-Shelby County YMCA. He conducted classes in children kung fu, adult kung fu, and Tai Chi at the Schilling Farms and Millington YMCA branches before briefly relocating back to Akron in 2004. While in his hometown, Sifu Vardeman continued teaching kung fu and Tai Chi for the YMCA at the Canal Square branch in Akron and at the Riverfront branch in Cuyahoga Falls. ;An employment opportunity took Sifu Vardeman to south Florida in 2005, then in 2006 he moved to North Carolina. While there he worked as a freelance instructor and taught Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Bagua Zhang, and basic self-defense classes for parks and recreation departments, senior centers, health clubs and corporate fitness centers in the Raleigh-Durham area. ;Currently, Sifu Vardeman lives near Gallatin, Tennessee and teaches Yang Tai Chi, Wing Chun Kung Fu and fundamentals of Baqua at Gallatin Martial ArtsYang Tai Chi Chuan (yahng tie chee chwahn) is the most widely practiced style of tai chi in the world. Evolving from ancient qigong (chee-gung) routines, Yang Tai Chi Chuan provides a non-impact form of exercise that promotes energy flow and optimizes the functioning of all bodily organs and systems. The benefits of regular tai chi practice include relief from stress and the discomforts of arthritis, a stronger immune system and enhanced functioning of the sympathetic nervous system and circulatory system.
