Sotiris Mitropanopoulos, MD, MS, is an assistant professor in the department of neurology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.Dr. Mitropanopoulos holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems and a medical degree from the University of Arizona, with a master's degree in computational biosciences from Arizona State University. After earning his medical degree, he pursued his neurology residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. He then completed fellowships in clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Mitropanopoulos is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in three specialties: neurology, epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. As a former engineer and bioinformatician, Dr. Mitropanopoulos brings a unique insight to UF Health. He currently focuses on patients who have neurologic diseases and seizure disorders. His research interests include epilepsy genetics, neurodegenerative causes of epilepsy, neuromodulation for the treatment of epilepsy and surgical evaluation for the treatment of epilepsy. Dr. Mitropanopoulos is a member of the American Epilepsy Society, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
