Dr. Kevin Behrns performs surgery for diseases of the pancreas, gallbladder, biliary and gastrointestinal systems. He uses innovative and minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopic pancreatectomy, to improve recovery time for patients. Dr. Behrns' research interests include chronic liver injury and autophagy. He is a professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Behrns has held leadership roles in numerous professional organizations: American Board of Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress, Halsted Society and Southern Surgical Association. He is co-editor of the medical journal Surgery and serves on the editorial board of several other publications.
