- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeWrist specialists are surgeons who treat patients with a range of issues, from arthritis and nerve conditions to sprains and sports-related injuries. Often times, these specialty-trained doctors see patients who have sustained a fracture or injury to the tendons and ligaments in the wrist as the result of a fall. Patients can also develop several nerve injuries and conditions related to the wrist, including cubital tunnel syndrome, which is an elbow condition that can also cause pain in the wrist. Carpal tunnel syndrome primarily affects the wrist and hands due to compression of the nerve that travels over the carpal bones of the wrist.

They draw on their specialized training as well as experience, offering patients the help and care they need. This begins as soon as the hand doctor meets with the patient, during the initial consultation. After assessing the hand condition (often including the entire upper extremity: wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder), the doctor will provide a diagnosis and discuss available nonsurgical treatments or hand surgery, if necessary.

- Bunions ProblemsOur orthopedic foot specialists are medical doctors with extensive training and experience in foot care. When this type of doctor first meets with a patient, he or she will perform a physical exam to begin determining the appropriate treatment. Sometimes, the doctor will examine other parts of the body, like the ankle, since foot conditions can be related to problems in the ankle. For example, fallen arches could cause problems in the ankle and may require ankle surgery. However, the issue is sometimes only in the foot, such as bunions or toe fractures.
- Flat FeetAn orthopedic foot specialist offers treatment options to patients with fallen arches, arthritis, and other issues. This type of chronic pain can be very challenging, but foot doctors can apply their expertise to offer specialized care. Sometimes, surgery is required, such as bunion surgery, but other times, a nonsurgical approach helps, such as physical therapy or medication.
