- GlaucomaUsing the diode laser helps to treat the pain besides restoring vision. The procedure is known to effectively treat glaucoma too. It involves freezing the eye with the help of a needle after which a laser is applied to its surface, in order to release the pressure by turning off the fluid producing cells, and restore vision.

- Macular DegenerationArgon laser treatment prevents the development of abnormal blood vessels in the eye and can also minimize the leakage of fluid within blood vessels in the retina. The treatment involves using a laser to treat a variety of problematic eye conditions, which range from diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration, to retinal breaks in terms of holes and tears.
- Laser Eye SurgeryLaser eye surgery is a term widely used to define procedures that correct refractive errors in the eye (which lead to impaired vision), with the help of a highly focused light. It is also known as laser vision correction, and involves using a laser to alter the shape of the cornea, changing the shape of the surface of the eye.
- CataractsA cataract is a clouding of the natural lens inside your eye and is considered a normal part of the aging process. When light rays enter a healthy eye, they pass through the naturally clear lens where they are focused onto the retina to provide a clear image. When light rays enter an eye with a cataract, they are distorted which creates a hazy or blurred image.
- Cataract SurgeryCataract surgery is recommended once your vision starts to interfere with your daily activities. An examination by your eye doctor along with a discussion of your vision complaints will determine if it is time to proceed with surgery.
- Eye ExamThe surgeon will give you a thorough eye exam before the surgery to ensure your eyes are healthy and that you are a suitable candidate for LASIK correction. You will also be tested for cataracts, glaucoma and other eye conditions that would disqualify you from LASIK surgery. A corneal topographer will be used to electronically map your eye, which will be used to plan your surgery for the most precise results possible.

- UltrasoundOur surgeons, Eric J. Poulsen, MD and Azhar I. Salahuddin, MD are both board-certified and utilize advanced surgical methods to make the procedure quick, pain-free, with no need for stitches. During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed with a technique called phacoemulsification. This process uses a small instrument that emits high-frequency ultrasound to break-up and gently remove the cataract material. Once the cataract is completely removed, it is replaced with a clear artificial intraocular lens implant (IOL). The entire surgery is completed in just 15 to 30 minutes and when it’s over, most patients can almost immediately see an improvement in their vision.
