Abrazo's mission is to provide the highest quality treatment, foster care program available, for children and foster parents, whose special needs can be met through services delivered, supervised and supported our professional staff. My name is Dr. John Lott. I am a California State Marriage Family Therapist and I would like to take this time to familiarize you with my work experience, my philosophy on foster parenting and my vision for Abrazo Foster Family Agency. I retired from the US Air Force after serving for over 27 years. For the next five years I worked as both social worker and therapist. The following two years I was the administrator for a foster family agency. For the past 18 months I have opened and been the director of Abrazo Foster Family Agency. My philosophy is very simple...comply with the State/County regulations, nurture and educate the children...for the children ARE OUR FUTURE!! We cannot add additional pain to these already injured children. I started my own agency because other agencies are out there for the money not for the child, I cannot abide by that standard. We must strive to empower and teach children to become healthy, respectful and responsible members of society. We face the tough challenge of breaking the cycles of negative and irresponsible behavior that their biological parents have modeled for them. We must show them that they can and deserve to be loved. With our professional therapeutic staff and our specially trained foster families, we are prepared for the task at hand. My two years as an Administrator for another agency I was able to get 40 of our children adopted to our foster families. We presently already have nine children out of the 43 in the adoption process.
