General Info

My name is Wally Schnalle (it rhymes) and I've been playing drums for over 35 years. For the past 12 years, I have been passing on what I've learned as a drummer as a teacher. I enjoy teaching very much but still perform on a regular basis as both a band leader and a sideman to many wonderful musicians. I do play in many genres, including Latin, funk and rock, but the bulk of my performances are jazz and fusion. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jazz Performance from San Jose State University. I have also been the recipient of a California Arts Council Artist-in-Residence Grant to teach a Multi-Cultural drumming curriculum at Arts Magnet School Lincoln High School in San Jose. I am also the Music Editor for Drum magazine. Those duties, over the past 10 years include, transcribing and engraving all the notation included in that magazine as well as doing interviews and product reviews. I have a well-equipped private studio in the Mission San Jose area of Fremont, California. Lessons are $95 for each set of 4 one-hour private lessons.
