- Dental ExaminationMinimal sedation relieves the anxiety patients feel before and during their dental exam. However, minimal sedation allows patients to respond verbally and physically to the dentist’s directions. The patient will be awake but calm and may remember parts of the experience after the procedure is completed.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningOral pathology involves diagnosing and treating diseases of the mouth such as cysts, tumors, and precancerous and cancerous lesions. Many patients experience unusual changes in the mouth, teeth, gums, tongue, or throat that may be caused by disease. Diagnosing diseases in the mouth as early as possible is very important. The earlier a disease is diagnosed, the faster treatment and healing can begin.
- Teeth Cleaning
- CrownsOcclusal, or bite, adjustment is a procedure performed to remove tiny interferences that keep teeth from coming together properly. These interferences can prevent the jaw from closing in its anatomically correct position. Interferences can develop as teeth develop, can occur following an accident, or they can accumulate over time with wear. Dental work such as fillings, crowns, bridges, and extractions can also cause interferences.
- BridgesImplant dentistry brings many new tooth replacement options to the table, and Dr. Codelli gives his Blue Ridge patients a variety of treatments for their missing teeth. Although typical replacements were dental bridges or dentures, dental implants are quickly replacing them as the most recommended option. In Blue Ridge, patients can choose between all of these options or combine them with implant supported dentures or a fixed dental bridge. To find out what your best implant dentistry option is, visit our dental implants section and call Dr. Codelli for a consultation.
- Restorative DentistryThe procedure is similar to esthetic crown lengthening in that a local anesthetic will be administered. Small incisions are required to remove the gum tissue and reshape the area. When the procedure has been completed, the dentist will place sutures that will need to be removed in one to two weeks. After the area has completely healed (6-8 weeks), the final restorative dentistry such as a crown or bridge can be placed.
- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyA gingivectomy is usually performed when a patient has severe periodontal disease that cannot be cured with scaling and root planing or other periodontal procedures. Gingivectomies are performed to remove and reshape loose, diseased gum tissue and to reduce the depth of pockets between the teeth and gums.
- DenturesIs it painful to eat, speak or smile? Do you find yourself hiding more than just your smile in social situations? The good news is, dentures are no longer your only option. Now, there’s a technique that can restore your oral function, your oral health and your aesthetics in just one day.
- Dental ImplantsAll-On-4 is a dental implant solution that requires only four implants. Schedule a consult with Dr. Codelli at our Blue Ridge, GA or Franklin, NC office.
- Oral Surgery
- Flap SurgeryOsseous surgery, or flap surgery, is usually performed when a pocket around a tooth (or teeth) has not responded to other gum disease treatments. The procedure is performed in order to create a clean environment around the tooth so that the tooth can be retained rather than lost. If left untreated, gum disease can progress and lead to gum recession, bone loss and tooth loss and has even been linked to serious systemic health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. Once gum disease has progressed to the stage of periodontitis, osseous surgery is the recommended gum disease treatment that can save your smile and your overall health.
- Gum SurgeryLANAP® laser gum surgery is less invasive than traditional forms of gum disease treatment. LANAP® employs the PerioLase®MVP-7™, a dental laser designed to surgically remove infected tissue while leaving the good tissue unharmed. The laser is actually programmed to avoid healthy tissue altogether.
- Osseous SurgeryWhile gum disease is quickly becoming an epidemic, there is a new, revolutionary treatment to fight it, and our Blue Ridge, GA periodontist, Dr. Gregg Codelli offers it. Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, or LANAP®, is now the leading, minimally invasive alternative to osseous surgery many patients and clinicians prefer.
- Tooth ExtractionsDental extractions are performed for a variety of reasons including tooth decay, injury, and for orthodontic treatment. Extractions are a relatively common procedure in most dental offices. The difficulty of the procedure varies depending on the case and the patient, however anesthesia is used to numb the area and prevent pain during the procedure.
- Bone GraftingBone grafting is the replacement or augmentation of missing bone around the teeth. There are three types of bone graft procedures: autogenous, allograft, and xenograft.
