I wouldn't even give them 1 star. I joined as a member under the $10 membership. I then upgraded to use the tanning except the tanning machines just do not work. they suck actually. So I called to see about going back to the old membership. I have a 12 mo. commitment to the new membershiop I was told. I can go back to the old one, pay a cancellation fee of $58 and then an additional enrollment fee to go back to the old one. My total would be $90.00. I opted to cancel my entire membership for $58. I'm all done. What a scam. No wonder it's never busy there.

The same thing happened to me as the previous reviewer stated. Also, to get the $10 per month that the Planet Fitness offers, we had to pay a starter though we had just signed up for World gym 2 weeks prior!!!! If I did not pay the starter fee, I would be charged the World Gym fee every month ($20). This is all very poor customer service and business practice. The whole thing felt very shady and underhanded.

The primary goal of this gym is as a small business,to make a profit and they have in the past taken memberships for granted to do so.For example, myself and numerous others signed up for a summer special at the gym, which was at the time called World Gym.Members were at no point informed that the franchise was to be sold to another business, and so myself and others signed up for the gym.World gym had offered many things that planet fitness does not such as group class, different exercise equipment, and higher weights. We signed up expecting these services, but less than two weeks later, the gym was sold without having ever informed the members. This was a direct attempt to lure in every customer possible before the switch happened, since we were then locked in the membership for the summer - others longer. Also humorous is their motto"The Judgment Free Zone",even though the franchise states that is does not want to attract "bodybuilders, those seeking group classes,or competitive lifters"
