I work in downtown Boston and live just on the outskirts of the city- there is NO shortage of salons with very good reputations in these parts. However, I chose to drive over an hour to see Steve and his fantastic staff. Steve's insight and vision can not be rivaled. Most people complain that he doesn't listen to what YOU want for a haircut. Those people don't know style and are usually seeking 'cookie-cutter' haircuts. If you want generic, go to Super Cuts. I never had people stop me in the streets to ask what salon I go to before I let Steve have his way with my mangled tresses. I love him and the staff!

WARNING!! You may not get what you ask for!!I went to Steve, the owner of L'Equipe who charges 70 a haircut, thinking that I was safe. I had a one length bob cut at the time and went in and asked for "bangs" and envisioned long sweeping bangs and some chunky layers. His exact description was "worst case scenario..2 inches below my eyes). I said "OK!!".He then proceeded to pull all my hair from the back over my eyes and then BAM-cut above my eyebrows straight accross. Just like that. In 10 seconds, I had bangs that went ABOVE my eyeborows! And that's it. So now, I have a 4 inch of so "mushroom" that poofs up around the perimeter of the crown of my head. Think "Garth" from Waynes' World. Exactly like his hair!I went in that night and demanded my money back. He then "explalined " to me that that was, indeed the length we agreed on and that "it was a look, just not my taste". Why not give me what IS my taste and not some funky haircut that looks like a mullet? He's a showoff.
