It plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state s transit system. The district serves Erath, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise counties in Texas. The Fort Worth District offers a variety of information about statewide road conditions. The Texas Department of Transportation, also known as TxDOT, employs more than 13,000 staff members. The department operates a construction division that is responsible for the inspection and testing of development projects. In addition, it governs a public transportation division that provides financial, technical and coordination assistance.
