Our one-of-a-kind building named "THE STONE BARN" Shady Oak’s home, the old stone barn at Big Fossil Creek, was built in 1937 by Eugene Sergi (1895-1971). My daughter and I visited the BBQ on Wed 7/4 around 2:30 pm. Less than 1/4 of tables were occupied. Food was good but SERVICE was TERRIBLE. We ordered drinks and appetizer, drinks were brought with bread. Plates were brought out. Asked where was appetizer? Told would check, we were over half way thru with meal when appetizer was brought out. Told them we did not want, removed from ticket. Few minutes late new customer comes in and they give them the appetizer we sent back. This occurred at next table. So we miss out and someone profits. Service needs to be improved. This was our first visit and may be our last.

The best decision I ever made!

On business from Minnesota, I was on my way through town heading north from Temple, TX. All at once of my passengers spotted it. It looked good so we turned around to check it out. We stopped and had one of the most enjoyable meals ever. The service was fantastic, and the food was wonderful. We had the chicken, ribs and pulled pork, and that bread they serve is so soft the flavor is great. I am hoping to have to take another business trip their soon - Kudos to your establishment its food is exceptional and the service is outstanding and the inside and outside of the building is very interesting and historical.

A local favorite of mine

They have some of the best ribs in the area. They also have live music outside during the summer. Great atmosphere.
