General Info
History The mission of the Fort Wayne Children's Choir is to provide a choral program exemplifying artistic and educational excellence for children from diverse backgrounds. The Fort Wayne Children's Choir contributes to the community's cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience the unique beauty of professionally trained young voices. The Fort Wayne Children's Choir is recognized as one of the finest choirs in the nation because of the excellence of its musical education, the diversity of its membership and the quality of its contributions to the community's cultural life. In 1973, Jocelyn Basse created the Children of Peace Choristers to meet need for an extra-curricular choral opportunity for area youth. Incorporated in 1984 as the Fort Wayne Children's Choir ( FWCC ), the FWCC has expanded to nearly 300 singers from 85 schools. FWCC members not only gain exceptional music skills, but learn about history, culture, foreign language, poetry, self-esteem, team-building and leadership. Singers are brought together from numerous backgrounds to achieve a common goal' artistic and educational excellence.

Reviews
This is an outstanding group with topnotch staff. FWCC offers generous community outreach programs, as well as scholarships. I cannot attest enough to the professionalism and sheer talent represented by the members. They've been In 2008 invited to travel and perform at various venues and festivals. In 2008 they were chosen to perform for the 33rd "FESTIVAL 500" (Newfoundland, Canada: to be held in 2009), a renowned festival attracting multinational choral talent; there are only two American Choirs which were invited, FWCC being one. This is a great testament to the talent they exude. The choir has also travelled to places such as: Hawaii, South Carolina, Montana and Carnegie Hall in New York City. This year the choir is celebrating its 35th Anniversary (2008-09). Through Mr. Fred Meads, a well known and respected director, many young musicians have unlocked their full potential in music and beyond. These children go on to achieve academic and artistic excellence.
