  Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique used at Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida. It helps visualize soft tissue with real-time images to aid in diagnostic evaluation. Orthopedic physicians use advanced treatments, such as ultrasound guided injections, to ensure accurate positioning of needle placement for injections and aspirations.

• Arthroscopy
  Dr. Humbert founded Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida in 2003 and established himself as a regional leader in total joint replacement and arthroscopy of the hip, knee and shoulder. Dr. Humbert developed his interest in orthopaedics while obtaining his degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Florida and master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Akron. His studies concentrated on musculoskeletal biomechanics, as well as orthopedic implant design. He completed his medical school training at Nova Southeastern University and orthopaedic surgical residency at Ohio University, Columbus, OH. He then completed a one-year fellowship in joint replacement of the hip and knee.

  As the name suggests, minimally invasive surgery at The Spine Center eliminates the large incisions and long recovery time associated with traditional spine surgery.   Following medical school, he completed his residency at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, a busy level one trauma center. He then pursued an additional year of fellowship training in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, learning from past and present innovators in the field.

  In fact, it was Dr. Humbert’s fellowship training that sparked the practice name, Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida. At the time, he studied total joint replacement and reconstruction at “Joint Implant Surgeons” in Columbus, Ohio.

  Dr. Melendez-Dedos joined Joint Implants Surgeon of Florida in 2017. Dr. Melendez is an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist with an extensive and broad 20 year experience in private, academic, research and administrative aspects of pain medicine in Puerto Rico. The new pain management service under the direction of Dr. Melendez will complement the outstanding orthopedic surgery service and offer new options of treatment to the patients suffering from acute and chronic pain conditions. Dr. Melendez-Dedos specializes in medical and interventional pain management treatment, offering patients empathy and compassion in a professional and safe environment.

  Dr. James Alton Bynum attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX where he graduated with honors. He remained in Galveston to complete his orthopedic surgery residency. He then completed an additional year of sports medicine and arthroscopy training at an accredited fellowship in Plano, TX in 2008. He has published numerous scientific papers in renowned orthopedic journals, reviewed articles for publication in the Journal of Arthroscopy, and has lectured both students and physicians on various sports medicine and arthroscopy topics. He has covered both local high school football and professional baseball teams.

  Recent dive trip to Sulawesi, Indonesia eight weeks after my hip replacement. I can say that I had no problems whatsoever diving with this new hip. Many thanks to Dr Humbert for doing such a good job on me.

  Today, he continues to perform safe, quality joint replacements, as well as providing the most progressive conservative measures to preserve the natural joint prior to surgery. Nationally, he instructs surgeons on state-of-the-art techniques in total hip and knee replacement. So far, Dr. Humbert has successfully implanted more than 8,000 hip and knee replacements and performs more than 900 joint replacements a year.

  Dr. Justin Rock attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Summa Cim Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Chemistry and Molecular Biology. He then completed a Master of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a research focus on malignant melanoma at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He remained at the Thomas Jefferson University to complete his medical training at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, where he graduated in the top quartile of his class.  Dr. Rock then went to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ. From where he spent an additional year of training to specialize in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Davis P. Green Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at the Hand Center of San Antonio. Throughout his education, he has served in many leadership roles that have allowed him to directly oversee the training of future medical students, residents, and fellows. He has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals to enhance our knowledge in both basic science and Orthopaedics. Dr. Rock has a special interest in elbow, wrist, and hand surgery because it fulfils his passion to help restore his patient’s function and quality of life. He seeks to bring his passion to serve Fort Myers and surrounding communities.
